As had already been mentioned, there is no way to completely block all inappropriate content. A simply way would to use the Browsers inbuilt filter, at least the Internet Explorer has an option to filter websites according to ICRA and similar tagging systems. The downside is that many websites simply are not tagged.

Another possibilty is to use a proxy server like SmartFilter to block content, you simply install it as any other program.

Remember that all this measures only offer some protection from dangers in the internet and can easily be circumvented. They truly only work to reduce your kid's (and not teenager's) danger, not to eliminate it. You will also need to teach your children how to work with media like the Internet, the programs are not a replacement for that. ICRA offers also information on that topic.

1. Take ethernet cable or phone cord in one hand, an exacto knife or box cutter in the other.

2. Cut afore mentioned cable or cord.

There isn't any software out there that can't be gotten around, either through blind links from seemingly innocent content or incomplete blocklists as porn sites are sprouting like weeds daily.

SpyPC 8.0 is the very best parental control software out right now in my opinion. I recommend it to all my customers with concerns. Windows XP has some built in features, but it is a hassle to set up, and not very hard at all to bypass.

You have to buy software to do it for you. Alot of firewalls do it like Zonealarm and Windows One Care. Their are prabably some free programs that do it as well, my guess would be they dont do it as well but you can give these a try:
