I know that the proper way to rid an American Flag is to burn it, but here I'd like to know about the smaller replicas that are staked along highways and the even smaller ones waved by millions of people. Thanks for your responses.

No I do not hate America, I love American and am proud to be a citizen of this great country. As was stated in one of the answers burning the flag after it touches the ground is proper. SO many of these tiny flags we wave at this time are dropped on the ground (by small children or careless people) or such.

The proper way to dispose of an American flag is by burning it but in a particular way. The best thing to do with old or unwanted flags is to give them to your local American Legion. This is a veterans organization that accepts flags for proper disposal.

Properly retiring american flag.....it has to be folded in the customary triangle.

The fire must be sizable (preferably having burnt down to a bed of red hot coals to avoid having bits of the Flag being carried off by a roaring fire), yet be of sufficient intensity to ensure complete burning.

Ever since California banned all fireworks our family had to come up with something for tradition...so we retire our flags that have flown over our home throughout the year on July 4th.

a flag regardless of size isnt to be burned unless it touches the ground or is worn and torn--they get packed up and saved for next year, or given away, yet sometimes you never know

have a great forth \of July and God bless America John 3 repented of sins and let Jesus in to my heart to be born again. amen
