C.C. Sabathia does deserve it.

Josh Beckett is only getting consideration because of what his team has helped him in doing.

Dan Haren is my 3rd choice.

if i'm jim leyland, i take johan santana if i want to win the game. he is the only pitcher who can be counted on to NOT have a bad outing! i mean, he'll only be pitching for 2 innings tops but it's important to give your offense a shot at taking an early lead, and johan will do that, especially with all the lefty batters in the NL lineup. Everyone else (beckett/sabathia/haren/verlander) has been inconsistent (haren only as of late). i have watched every start of johan's for the last 3 years and he has NEVER had a bad outing. that's only if i want to win the game though.

Sorry, but Dan Haren is the clear choice here. He may not have the gaudy win total that CC and a few others have posted, but he's a stud in every other pitching category that matters for a starter. If CC was named I wouldn't complain about it, but he isn't the best choice for the top pitcher in the AL this season.

It's got to be C.C. he has the most wins in the MLB and his ERA is good. Two complete games in a month?! I mean come on, who does that. The guy is a beast.

James K. has it right it should be Dan Haren. When you're an AL pitcher and you have an 10-2 record and 2.20 era that is downright impressive.

Haren should be the starter. hes 10-2. His ERA is 2.20 but his WHIP is only 0.98 and thats really impressive...especially for an AL pitcher

I agree. Based on his excellent record so far this season, Sabathia deserves to start.
