I started taking the pill about 1 week ago.. I do not remember if they said a month or something else...just wondering when it would officially go into affect. my fiance and I do not want to risk getting pregnant at this time so we want to make sure the pill is working.

Yes I can tell you. You have to wait one full cycle to be covered by the Pill. That is until your period returns after taking the first cycle of pills.
But were you warned that vomiting/diarrhea can effect the absorption of the pill? And some antibiotics can negate the effectiveness too? Let the doctor know if you need any other medication when on the pill. And of course if you miss one, you are not covered until one full cycle after?
Use a condom or abstinence if those conditions exist, as well as continuing the pill, to remain safe.

Generally it is recommended to use another form of birth control for a month to make sure the pill has taken effect.

I think generally wait untilyou go one full cycle. Or about a month.

my doctor told me 3- 4 months

I thought it was 24 hours per pill...but if its the first time, I'd say one week would be enough.

I was always told to also use a condom the first month. Then you should be ok.

one month.. your body needs to go through one full cycle. So, I would wait....

I think it takes at least 2 weeks so make sure you are using other contraception too.......
