I'm moving out of my house in two months. I have a car that's paid off, I'm a full time student and I work an average of 30 hours a week. There's apartments that go off income, and their willing to let me stay. But, I don't have anyone to sign a lease for me? Since I'm only 17. I can't stay with my parents because they said themselves that I have to leave, but they won't sign a lease.

Help please!

You can't sign a lease so you must look for a place that doesn't require a lease. You can rent month to month. You can approach apartments with that idea and a big deposit and talk your way into it or look for places that don't require leases. When I left home, I rented rooms in someone's house that had my own entrance. They were nice and it was so reasonable but not very private. Call people, not apartments and be very careful about your security. Lot's of people rent apartments over their garage. I had one of those too and the little old lady that owned it always brought me dinner. She was so afraid I wasn't eating too well. That was great. Also you can find someone that's looking for a roommate. That can be a real adventure. That one turned out that I could hear a car running all night outside my window. It was the FBI watching this chickie I shared the apartment with and her boyfriend's activities. They busted in and there I was in a ugly nightgown and pink rollers. Ugh. At least I didn't have to go but I needed another roommate and the apartment was hers. Try some of these and then you will be of age. . . and these were all very nice places. Get creative. Life is an adventure. I just watched Tonto and Harry-a story about an old man in New York and his cat. His apartment was being torn down and he had to move. He traveled all over and had all these adventures and met some incredible diverse people and then he found the place he was looking for. It isn't always easy but looking can be really interesting. . .

I'm betting there is more to this story than meets the eye. But if what you say is the whole story, you should have options. If you are a full time student with a good GPA with no visible means of support outside your job there are grants available to you. I'm sure the school could help you find housing. Now if you are still in high school, working a questionable job, and mom and dad are having a fit and saying you can't do that while you live under my roof, that's a whole new story. I guess I'd have to have a few more facts before I can give an educated answer. No matter what I wish the very best for you.

You might have a problem, since at 17 you can't sign a legal contract that can be enforced. But if you can show a prospective landlord that you are responsible, have been working for awhile and can/will pay the rent, they might let you have the apartment. Once you're 18 the problem will go away - I hope you're close to that. Any chance of working things out with your parents until you turn 18? That would be your best option if it's possible.

Good luck.

My daughter-in-law bought a home at 17 but, it was O.K.'ed buy the bank for some reason. Maybe because it's a small town and everyone knows everyone but, at 17 your not legally responsible for a contract.
The person said you had "crappy parents" is wrong. I wouldn't sign a lease for any kids either, not because there bad but, this is burden on they're credit until your contract is paid for. They wouldn't be able to use they're own credit because your isn't paid, get it?

If you can get them to give you a contract, your lucky but, if you have a good background and have a good work record and, it's not long before your 18th, birthday, maybe you'll be lucky, try it.

sounds like you are in between a rock and a hard place.

you may have to do some butt kissing to make things right with your parents to get them to sign for you on the lease or let you stay until you turn 18.

Crappy parents. Look in your local paper and find someone who needs a roomate. They might be willing to let you move in until you turn 18 without signing a lease. Maybe. Or advertise on Craig's list and explain your situation.
