Most of the time it is. If the depression last for more than 2 weeks or if you start having suicidal thoughts, then you need to see a doctor because it could be from something more serious that requires medication.

maybe, we all get depressed from time to time.. It really depends how depressed she is.. A 13 yr old girl is coming a woman and there are major hormone changes as well as her body is changing...

but if it is something that last for more than a couple days she should talk with someone about it.. A counselor or a friend a dr maybe ..

Yeah. It is common for girls that age to be depressed. There are a lot of physical, emotional and chemical changes happening. There things that they have to deal with that most people don't understand. There is boy and girl trouble. Trouble with friends. Pressure from adults, friends and peers. Things that they may want to do, but can't because they are not old enough. It is age between being a kid and being a young adult. Thirteen can be rough. But as long as they talk to somebody (parent, friend, etc.) and just try to take things one at a time then it gets easier as they get older. It can be bad, but things will always be better tomorrow. They just have to hang in there and know that people loves and cares about them.

To a certain degree, yes. All adolescents suffer from a little depression...it's all the hormones mixed with all the crazy behavior of your friends! But, if your depression becomes severe, and you start thinking of things like suicide, then you need to get some help. That is not normal.

Yes, its very normal,I'm 15 and I deal with depression sometimes. Parents, relationships, friends, and other stuff can seriously stress someone out , but if you start thinking of suicide get help and think if it's really worth ending yourself for that situation, their is so much you have to do, so many cute boys to meet, and sexy celebrities to talk about and try to meet.
Plus, just think there's only 5 more years of being at home with your parents, that really helps me now I'm 15 1/2 and going to be 16 Jan.18th, then it'll be 2 more years, trust me the years sometimes go slow but , if you have other things on your mind, it'll help time, move faster.......kksz

It's normal. I was depressed at that age, too. It helps to talk to someone about it. Don't be afraid to. It'll hopefully help you get out of your depression. Good luck! Life isn't as bad as it seems sometimes.

Very normal with all the changes going on in her body at that time. If it persists to the point of bad thoughts and dreams, I'd tell her to seek help & that there's nothing to be afraid of.

Sometimes, but not to the point where you want to hurt yourself or someone else. If you get that sad it's time to tell your parents and ask for help before it gets any worse. I wish I could help - here's a hug for what it's worth.
