Can I paint my bathroom sink and counter with acrylic paint?

Question

I was wondering if it would be permanent, or if it would any harm to the sink or counter. I was thinking of using a rough textured acrylic to paint it because it would be way cheaper than replacing it. Should I do it? Will the paint start coming of from the sink if I keep washing puting water on it?

Q. I have a bathroom sink that was cracked and has been repaired, but the color does not match. I'd like to paint a design onto the basin, but don't know of any paint that would hold up. I've seen the posts about the epoxy paints, but I'm hoping there is something new out there that might do the trick. Am I a starry-eyed dreamer?
A. Try permenamel available at craft stores.use non-abrasive cleansers after allowing to set according to directions.

Certainly you Can... in fact had you asked May I the answer would also be YES.

Will you achieve satisfactory results? NO!

Not knowing the substance of the counter top, but assuming the sink is porcelain, you'd be essentially painting over glass. If the countertop is anything but Wood, the results will vary, but eventually be something you won't be happy with,,, IE: Tile or Formica/Laminates. Same situation, painting a NON porous surface will not achieve any level of decent results for the long term.

Don't use acrylic paint. The paint is water based and will come off the counter and the sink. You can purchase a refinishing kit made specifically for enameled sinks. For the counter you can paint it using a melamine paint. Melamine paint is very hard and durable and will last for years. However the melamine colors are limited.

I wouldn't. I had a business in remodeling, we run into this on several occasions. People using paint to cover there sinks and, even tubs. It's a mess to clean up.

If you want to paint them this bad, go to Home Depot and get a "tub kit" it comes in colors and you can do your sinks and even the tub. On the counter I would cover it with lino or tile but, paint being wet a lot, would peel in time.

For the sink they sell an "epoxy" refinishing kit for bathtubs and sinks..for the counter top Sherwin Williams has A paint specifically designed for formica, and other counter top materials..epoxy kits can be found in any major hardware stores, home depot, lowes, ace etc

No, it will just start to peel and look funny, you will need real paint or just a new counter/sink

the acrylic paint def. will not work. They make a spray for aplliances.. i bet that would work wayyyyyyy better. I would ask your local home depot or Lowes paint employee...
