I saw it Monday night with my 12 yo son. It is actually pretty good. I never really watched the cartoon, but the effects were very impressive, and the plot was actually engaging, too. Be warned, there are more than a few human casualties in the film. No main characters, but still, when a mini-transformer hurls a spinning disc at a guy, the disc usually wins. Shia LeBeouf is a pretty good young actor. Jon Voight and Josh Duhamel have good supporting roles, but the real stars are the machines. I guess we can forgive George Lucas' effects house for the dismal looking 'Hulk' from a few years back.

Being a fan of the original generation 1 toys & cartoon, I was disappointed with the modern style of the characters. But people who don't know the old school Transformers won't think anything of it.
Even though it's "Transformers" and thought to be a total kid movie, I wouldn't say it is. The storyline would be hard to follow for a young one...I think the PG-13 rating works good, and not just for the little bit of cussing. They throw a few lines in there that only Transformer fans would understand, lines made popular by the original.
The action/fight scenes are very hard to follow. They are going at a super fast pace, but I think that was to hide the special FX. It's hard to tell who's who when they're fighting.
All in all, a good action movie but in my mind doesn't live up to the original Transformers. I think it's being hyped up too much.

The husband and I saw it last night and we loved it! It's awesome! The CG is some of the best we've ever seen in a movie, they looked so real!
Depending on how old your son is, be forewarned, the movie is PG-13 for the violence and "some" sexual inuendo's, but it's pretty null.
The humans had good characters, but the true stars of the film were the robots (of course!). Good storyline, good acting, and minus a few "off" scenes here and there, the movie flowed very well. It's one worth adding to the DVD collection.

I saw it TWICE!!! To me, Transformers just broke the barrier when it comes to making robots that interact well with humans. The awesomely human-like behaviour of the Autobots, the cool action scenes, fast but cool transformations and the god-like Optimus Prime took my breathe away! Absolutely the best movie this year. No one could ask for a better live adaptation of a cartoon, especially one that we used to love.

ive heard from a few friends that it was a really good movie
also..the critics dont rant on it as much as they have on other kids movies..and from that point right there id say there's something! considering its critics...and how they...criticize...lol, idk
but from what i heard, having not seen it yet myself, it sounds good, so id say to give it a shot
