I don't like the name at all--I think it sounds stripperish, but she insists. Can I get some opinions here?

Ok my sister agrees the Angel might be too much, but do you have any suggestions on the middle name then?

Yes, I realize this is my niece's name which is why I try to give her my opinion but my sister is a TAURUS and very stubborn, so all I can do is call my niece "Didi"---which I totally will!

P.S. Can you refrain from calling my sister names? Thanks.

We happen to be sitting at the computer together and being that this is something we have gone back and forth on opinion-wise she ASKED me to ask the question on here. Thanks.

Well, baby names are a very personal thing. But parents should also be thinking about when the child becomes an adult and will be applying for jobs or working out there in the business world. Names have come a long way since Dick and Jane (no offense to those of you with those names!) but I don't think if I were in a place of business that I would take the name of Diamond very seriously. But then there are ladies with the names of Ruby and Opal so who am I to say? Maybe you could present it to your sister that way. In the end though, your nieces name is not up to you! Sorry!!

Hmmm. You may want to point out to sis that it may limit the baby's career options someday.
Can you imagine a page at a hospital for Dr. Diamond Angel? How about the author of an important research paper?

Sure, it's cute as it matches a beautiful baby, but career wise, that is a pretty cruel thing to do to a woman. Like it or not, people make assumptions about names and the people who own them.

Sorry, but "Diamond Angel" sounds like a girl headed for The Jerry Springer Show. Maybe you can get sis to use a more formal name on the birth certificate and call her Diamond Angel for a nickname?

There have been studies done in which identical resumes were sent in for job applications with one change -- the name at the top. The font, the experience -- everything else was the same except for one was a "standard" name, and the other was something more unique (Diamond would fall in to this category). The normal names had a remarkably higher call-back rate -- something like 70% more. A kid's name impacts their success. You might want to let her know that. Then it's not just about her taste -- but doing what is best for her kid.

Well the baby will probably hate her for it. People name their kids, like they are toys or dolls forgetting they will grow into adulthood one day. Get a baby book with names they good advice. they warn against such names for instance:

FAMILY NAME BABY'S NAME
Christmas Mary
Easter Bonnie
Day Indie Peen
York Newe
Drawer Chester

And so forth and so on etc, etc, You get the idea. Maybe she'll listen if not you tried.

Awful - terrible - horrible! Definitely the name of someone in the adult industry... not someone that would be taken seriously as an adult.

Angel is the least awful of the 2 names. If she's going to drop one, it should be Diamond, or just use one or the other for a middle name.

Poor kid.

It's her choice and there is nothing you can do about it.
I know that is a really sucky name, but how would you like it if she started voicing her opinion on what you wanted to name your child and it was something you really liked?
You have to let people learn from their own mistakes.
(Even Angel Diamond is better....)

Sounds awful! I can imaging how the child is going to get teased in school.

I knew a girl name Tequila Mercedes, man kids were SO mean to her in elementary school that by middle school she was the bully and delinquent by high school and dropped out!!!

Angela Dominiqie
Doninique Angel.

The name she chose will harm the baby when she go's to school, Kids will make fun of her and parents may not let her play with their kids because the name sounds like a stripper name
