Just keep close attention on the contractions. when they get to 3-5 min. apart that is when you should get into the hospital. right now they arnt that close or regular it sounds like. so dont panic and dont rush into the hospital just yet. just be ready for when they hit the 3-5 minute mark. good luck and congrats.

I am 38 weeks preg and I have been having braxton hicks/false labor contractions for the past 2 months. Sometimes I will have them for hours at about 5 mins apart, they are painful but they never get any stronger. I have had to call the hosp 3 times and everytime they tell me to lay down, drink a ton of water and not to worry unless they get stronger. Dehydration can cause braxton hicks/false labor contractions.

I'm finally starting to dilate (3 cm - YEAH), maybe it won't be much longer for me!!! Good Luck!!!

Usually braxton-hicks don't really mean anything. With my 2nd, I had them sometimes 30 in an hour, and it never meant anything.

But there are those stories you hear about women having painless labors, who say all they had were braxton-hicks.

Just keep and eye on them. If they seem to progress, call your doctor. Otherwise, you just gotta wait it out!

Good luck! I hope baby comes soon.

well the due date is really only an estimate. you could go 2 weeks on either side (early or late) and it would be normal...but i wouldn't be worried about the braxton hicks.

think of them as practice contractions. and really practice your relaxation tequniques now before its the real thing. if you don't have any tecniques just breath in through your nose and out through your mouth. relax all the way out to you fingers and toes. if you can lay down on you side in whatever position you usually sleep in and really really relax.

you'll probably have the opportunity to practice like this a good bit in the upcoming days.

i would not go to the hospital until you are sure that you're in labor. (trust me you'll know :lol) the sooner you go the more likely they are to decide you need to be monitored or induced. remember once you go the hospital they are timing you. while you have the legal right to refuse any intervention they might want to force on you, its kind of a hassle yk. better to keep the clock on your side.

You should always call your doctor and give him a "heads up" if you have four or more contractions in an hour -even if they are painless- he will give you advice on how to tell whether this is labor or not, and may possibly even suggest just going to the hospital now so that they can monitor your contractions for you. Congrats! I think your baby is coming very soon!

you'll know labor because it will get more intense every hour. Braxton Hicks can be constant, but if they dont get worse or slow down when you move or change position, then its no big.

If you cant talk during one, its real. If you can talk during it, its braxton hicks.
