Yes anyone who saw the World Trade Center come down did anyone who saw the bombing of the Meir Building in Oklahoma also saw history being made. IF you were there that February in when the World Trade Center was first bombed. We've all seen things that will go down in history. The impeachment of President Clinton, President resigning the Presidency in Aug of 1974 (for those of us old enough to remember Watergate) We might not have been in the same room when these things happened but most of us saw these issues happen on TV. Which is something that my parents can't say. TV has allowed a lot of us to see issues that normally we wouldn't have seen.

In real life, no.

But I think the vast majority of the population over around eleven years old has probably witnessed live video footage of something that will be in history books.

9/11
The trial and hanging of Saddam Hussein
The Berlin Wall coming down
The Oklahoma City Bombing
The election of new leaders
The death of Princess Diana
Columbine
Virginia Tech
Hurricane Katrina
Hurricane Andrew
The panic surrounding Y2K

The explosion of the space shuttle over the skies of Texas (this I can honestly say I would be an actual "witness" to; parts of the shuttle landed in surrounding areas where I live, and we heard a kind of sonic boom)

I was in the Soviet Union in 1991 during the coup against Gorbachov & the independence of the republics. It didn't happen the way the US press & history books say it did. Glad I could participate in the freeing of my people, 50 million people freed without violence. I will never again believe that war is needed to make or preserve freedom.

Sort of. In 1985 I crossed through Checkpoint Charlie into East Berlin to see the Museum housing the Pergamon Altar.

We spent the day in East Berlin (group of Valpo students with VU's Reutlingen Study Program). In the evening we went into the East Berlin suburb of Pannchow to meet with a Lutheran Church group. We listened to their stories of persecution as Christians in East German society. Meanwhile the two young East German secret policemen that had attached themselves to our group sat outside the church. Thankfully they were gone when we emerged and made our way back to Checkpoint Charlie and the comparative safety of West Berlin.

In the years to come, people will have little memory of the Berlin Wall. I'm glad I had the real opportunity to experience that darker side of human history. Of course I don't think I would want to do it again.

I was on the Jersey side during the 9/11 attack, I was going the other way, and I was wondering about what was going on over there. I could see the smoke, and wanted to hear the news.....my car radio was broken. Once I got home, I turned on the TV

Along with 12 million other people.

9/11. Looked up just as the second plane hit the south tower. When it blew I thought it was a bomb at first and not a plane. Actually felt a hot air shockwave right after that.
