I've heard he scored a special teams td. Is this true? What kind was it? Was it a fumble recovery? Thanks

Check out the stats on Urlacher---he's had one fumble return for a TD in his career, and yes he was a receiver on one too in 2001. IT was against the Redskins. It was the punter who threw the pass as everyone is saying, but if I'm not mistaken it was a field goal attempt. Punters are holders sometimes for PATs and field goals, the ball was snapped to the punter/holder, and Urlacher didn't stay in to block but instead ran down the right sideline and caught about a 20 yard pass.

He'll never do that again though--the Skins got caught sleeping, and it was stupid of them to not cover him. If you see Urlacher playing special teams, lining up to "block" on a field goal....they're either using him as a decoy or sending him out to receive. I can't see a team making that same mistake with him again.

Urlacher led New Mexico's conference in kickoff returns - he played safety for the Lobos. The man is fearless and fast. He isn't utilized as much in coverage as blitzing so he isn't as likely to pick off a middle pass and six it for the Bears - though he did run a gadget play in 2001, scoring a TD from punter Brad Maynard.
