Somene asked this same question just a few minutes ago...I still think it's a bad idea. If we erase memories, then life lessons will go with them. If we erases mistakes, we'll just make them again.

No i would not want to do that.. I think i have learned a lesson to almost everything that has happened to me in my life. good and bad. And my past is what has made me to be who I am. So without my memories, i would probably make the same mistakes.. I am a rape victim also. He was a man I trusted. So with that memory erased, will I end up trusting this man again like it never happened so he can rape me again? Or if i had a traumatic accident which prevented me from having children.... would i then be wondering why i cant get pregnant after THAT memory is erased? I think that science is getting out of hand. Yes these things may be possible. But who do these people think they are trying to play God? We have memories for a reason. Bad or Good we need our memories!

I guess to see would be to believe. I will tell you this, if there was a drug out there that could dampen or lessen bad memories, I think that It would be an awesome advancement in the medical as well as the Mental health areas. Can you imagine what good that drug would be for children that were molested or had a traumatic event happen to them? You know that is what does so much damage to children who have been hurt, is the memories, remembering what happened to them, having to replay the event over and over again in their little minds. I know that if I were a parent of a child who had had something horrible happen to my child, and they could take a little pill that would make them forget what they had been through, I would be thrilled.....But on the other hand, in the wrong hands, that drug could be very dangerous.......Just imagine giving it to a woman after she had been date raped.....she wouldn't likely remember what happened to her, therefore she wouldn't be able to report it....so as in all things there are pros/cons .

Believe it? Possibly. Want it? No Way. Experiences are what make You the person You are today, for better or worse. Do You really want all the bad memories erased (I got that DUI, I broke into that house when I was a teenager, etc..) just so You can repeat the mistake instead of learning from it?

Well, if science proves it how can't I believe it? It's a bit...odd though. I wouldn't want it memories are all you have. I mean, you learn from your mistakes and sometimes the mistake hurts. Life is not just happiness and fun, it is overcoming hardships and coping. I can understand why people would, but I'd rather not. Thought provoking question.

I believe it works especially if you want it to work. I can't think of anything I would want to forget, life is about experiences and those are what make us who we are.

Now if someone had a tragic situation, such as watching a loved one get murdered or being forced do perform sexual acts I can see how that would be something to help regain a sense of self but I don't think I would care for it.

i believe that with technology today erasing memories is possible. (and if it isn't, it will be soon...)

i dont think that i would want any memories erased - even my worst ones - because these memories are what make me stronger. i learn from my mistakes so that i don't repeat them.

i've been backstabbed before - as we all have at some point - but if i forgot about that then i would become naiive again and wouldn't know when people were using me or playing me.

our memories and experiences - good and bad - define who we are and mold us into who we become, and i wouldn't want to change who i am - or who i will become...

Sadly I do believe it. Just one more way that the human race is going to destroy itself.
No, I would not take it. I believe you learn something new everyday of your life and that by forgetting even the most horrendous of events you are cheating yourself of a complete future.

I don't think I believe something like this, and NO I wouldn't want it. There are memories I have that I hate, but I'd rather just learn from them and move on than forget them....as much as I'd rather just forget.

it said "A week later, they found that patients given the drug showed fewer signs of stress when recalling their trauma."
I dont believe that they're deleting the memory, but just somehow not making you stress out when you think of the bad memory.
If they're not deleting the memory, and just reducing how much you stress out about it..then I'd prrrrrrrobably try it
but if not,too bad.
