I never went to the prom, but did the Bunny Hop at other school dances in the late 50s and early 60s.

Well, I feel like the youngster in this group. I did the bunny hop maybe in the 1st grade around 1959. By the time I was dancing much, it was the twist, mashed potatoes, the Watusi, etc.
However, since I am the crooner type and slow dance, belt buckle polishing type, I preferred songs like " I'm so lonesome I could cry" remake by BJ Thomas and like Roy Orbison and the Beach Boys. Never was big on Elvis or the Beatles. Guess I fell through the cracks somewhere along the line.

Not at the Prom but at Cotillion and the year was 1957. I also remember my parents doing the Bunny Hop at a New Years Party circa 1952-3.
I too remember "Strolling".

I don't remember doing it at the prom. (Bunny Hop, that is) But I do remember it on the Fri. night dances after football & basketball games.
Another one I remember at dances was "The Stroll". We thought we were so cool going down the middle of everyone on our Stroll. I remember it like it was yesterday. Come to think of it, it was. See how the mind wanders when we get older?!

I bypassed the prom but we bunny hopped in the girls' gym during our noon dances in the late 50's.

It wasnt at a prom, but it was along the streets in Philadelphia in 1954-to the best of my recollection. There were a whole bunch of fraternities at the University of Pennsylvania and the parties poured on to the streets. It was so much fun. Thanks for the memory.

I didn't go to my prom so I don't know.
But I do remember seeing it on American Bandstand when I was a teenager in the 1960's and always at wedding receptions back in the 1960's.
