i figured that this "authentic" jersey is fake because the front photo of the jersey shows the small number to the right more when it should be more towards the center of the jersey. it shouldn't be past the S of the mets logo. and the G on wright is messed up. it does however say that it is an authentic jersey. my question is. do people buy authentic blank jerseys and then have the lettering and numbers sewn on? it does say its an authentic jersey on the tag attached to the bottom of the jersey in one of the photos, so i'm guessing that the material is a lot better. overall i dont mind the mess ups.

I'd be suspicious of its authenticity just based on the fact that the auction says the item will be shipped directly from overseas. Granted, that's likely where most jerseys are made, but this could definitely be a knockoff sold as the real thing.

To answer your question yes people do have kits sewn on an "authentic" jersey. There was a guy on ebay out of Fall River Mass. about 18 mos. ago knocking them off and they were awful. (Guy is now suspended or under another name maybe). I actually visited his shop as I live about 30 mins away and figured I would buy direct and save the shipping. Not to go into too much detail but the products were way flawed and poorly put together in his own shop! I even think the "Authentic" tags were mass produced somewhere. There was a guy from Minnesota I bought a Mauer jersey from that was obviously mickey moused together on a home sewing machine and not what was pictured. The twins on the front was too small and Mauer was misspelled "Mawer" on the jersey but not in the pic. You win some you lose some. I have gotten many decent ones from Korea off ebay but usually I just pay the extra and get what I know is real. All I can say is if I came across two operations knocking them off certainly others are too. Then again we buy two or three/month. Check the feedback ratings and just be aware of what you buy.

I bought an authentic David Wright jersey a couple months ago off of eBay and it looks exactly as you described (minus the "G"...that's probably due to either the triple color layer that the Mets are prominently known for or just a crease in the jersey). The numbers and letters are actually sewn-on my jersey, so it's authentic.

The easiest way to determine that is to ask for a few up-close pictures on the letters and numbers to see the stitching. That's the only way you can tell. Look on mlb.com/shop if it looks similar to the stock photo. If it does, you're good bro.

Edit: I looked at your item. Bro, my advice as a fellow David Wright fan...find a jersey on eBay not from Korea because it'll be a pain to wait for it. Plus there are several jerseys out there without the All-Star patch and under $60...mine was $56 or so.

Re-edit: It could be a manufacter error, but like I said, look at mlb.com/shop to see if it's close to the stock phote and check if it's stitched. Also it could be because teams are updating their jerseys every year and this could be last year's product and the manufacter was overstocked for this year and needed to sell quick.

Look at the sellers rating. If he has sold alot of auctions and has a high feedback rating then mostlikely it is real. I was looking for the same jersey a few weeks ago on ebay. but i accidently broke a hole in my nabors window with a baseball so i have to use the money for the windows repair. I'm going to see the Mets play the Astros this Friday! I am very excited and hopefully i will get his sig.
