Statues of limitations vary from state to state. Different offenses have different limitation periods. The general rule is that the more serious the offense, the longer the limitation period. Murder usually does not have a limitation period, meaning charges can be brought at any time. In addition, there may be different limitation periods between state and federal systems. A criminal defense attorney in your area is likely to be familiar with the local laws.

In the US, there is no statute of limitation. A murder can be investigated from any time span, even very old ones. These are referred to as 'cold cases' .

There is no statute of Limitations for murder. You do the crime and think you got away...they will find you and charge you eventually.

There is no SOL on murder, it is a capital offense.
Why do you ask? Thinking of committing it? Already done so? Know someone who did?
If so, you should either seek therapy (if just thinking) or legal assistance (if the deed is done.)
