He can not play for the Spanish national team since FIFA rules do not allow players to play for more than one national team in their lifetime. Since your question is in sports, I figure your curiosity is that. He probably has dual citizenship now, but as a footballer, he will always be Brazilian.

Roberto Carlos is a BRASILEIRA first and foremost. He may have Spanish citizenship and can be considered Spanish, but he will always be from Brasil.

Brazil, although he get Spanish citizenship. But he already retire from team national (Brazil). In La Liga there is rule that non EU player can get Spanish citizenship after live in Spain for at least 3-5 years. But in FIFA regulation, he can play just for Brazil. If one player already played for one national team. he can't play for another nation. But this not effect for age group (U-23 and below), he still can play for another nation, but after choose one national team and played for that. Still he can't play for another. U know what I mean? Okay
