You do not need science to “prove” or "disprove" any mythological superstitious fiction. All religion is obviously based on myth, not facts.

Let’s review some pertinent facts…

You do not need sophisticated scientific inquiry or mathematical models to know that prayer does not work. Just look at all the pain, starvation and injustice in the world.

Certainly starving children have committed no sin, yet they still suffer and starve. Amputees undoubtedly pray for lost limbs to be restored, yet that has never happened. Even the bravest soldiers undoubtedly pray for peace, yet wars continue.

Guilt by association…

Just look at the people who advertise their religious beliefs. The ones who talk most of “belief” are the same ones who commit unspeakable acts of violence and perversion.

In America, look at Capitol Hill. The same people that brag about their religious beliefs are the ones who make war, tell lies and harbor criminals in public office.

Look at the Middle East. Religious zealots there use religion as justification for acts of terror. It does not matter if it is Islam or Christianity; all religion is a form of insanity.

…We do not need science to "prove" it so.

Scientific religion?...

In recent years, fundamentalists have attempted to "prove" through contrived pseudo-science that evolution is false. That is usually the source of such questions as yours.

ALL scientific evidence, (100% of it) proves evolution is real. NO scientific evidence suggests that evolution is not real.

The only thing supporting crackpot proponents of "intelligent design" is specious ad-hoc argument, not scientific facts.

“It’s just a theory…”

Misunderstanding of the word "theory" is the entire basis for arguing that any alternative "theory" has equal validity.

Scientists use the word "theory" (as distinct from "hypothesis") to describe- “a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world; an organized system of accepted knowledge that applies in a variety of circumstances to explain a specific set of phenomena;”

Fundamentalists focus on a different definition of the word theory; “belief.”

Because they confuse the hypothetical version of "theory" and their misinterpretation of "scientific theory", they think they have a right to spew bunk about some alternative viewpoint as if it has validity. It does not. Neither Creationism nor "intelligent design" has any validity, scientific or otherwise.

Illegal, immoral, unconstitutional and plain wrong…

Christian Fundamentalists think they have a right to demand such creation-based theories taught in public schools. That concept defies the Constitution and the doctrine of Separation of Church and State. It also defies all common sense.

Anyone who tries to argue that any science "proves" Christianity (or any other form of religion) is wrong. They are not merely wrong; they are wrong because they are weak, stupid, fearful and often evil.

Astrology, numerology, ouiji boards, ghosts, black cats and witches…

By definition, all religion is superstition. Religion discusses supernatural beings and causes. There has never been any scientific evidence of anything “supernatural.”

Religion relies on hearsay, anecdote and demonstrable lies. Religion is based on mythology, not facts.

NO science “proves” or claims to prove religion. Likewise, no one who has the required training to be a scientist attempts to prove any religious doctrine. Science is not concerned with religion. Science is concerned with repeatedly provable facts.

“Even scientists have been quoted…”

Ignorant people mistakenly interpret certain famous quotes from certain famous scientists to "prove" that these scientists "believe" in god. That is false. For instance, when Einstein said, "God does not play dice," he was speaking metaphorically about the uncertainty principle in quantum physics, not expressing belief in a deity.

I can use the word “god” in a sentence. That does not indicate I believe in god. Likewise, it does not indicate a “belief” just because Einstein used a word in a clever quotable quip.

Who started this argument?

The association between religion and science is an artificial dialogue created by fundamentalists. Scientific thought holds no truck with illogical religious dogma. Those who claim there is “scientific proof” of god are grasping at straws. They misinterpret, misconstrue and outright lie to make arguments. Such arguments never prove true.

What we can all see IS true, without the aid of science…

It IS true that there is NO scientific evidence to support ANY religion; but we do not need science to “prove” religion is false. Religion proves itself false through simple logic. The mere fact there are numerous different religions proves this.

Major deistic religions all claim to be the source of the “one true God.” Yet each religion and each god is different and has a different name. There cannot be multiple conflicting versions of a single thing.

The good, the bad and the fugly…

Religion proves itself evil by association. Some of the most heinous acts in human history were committed in the name of religion. No one with any historical knowledge of the Children’s crusades, the Spanish inquisition or modern acts of terror and war can, in good conscience, accept any religion.

Who is in the boat?

Good people despise religion. Smart people know that all religion is stupid. Educated people know that religion is ignorant. Wise people know that anyone who claims to be religious is stupid and potentially evil.

Only the Ignorant, the Fearful or those with ulterior motives profess religious belief.

To what purpose?

Some people fear death to the point of accepting fairy-tales. They seek the illusion of imagined immortality at the expense of reason.

Some people profess piety in the vain attempt to prove moral superiority.

Whether it is a TV evangelist preaching for profit, or a politician “proving” his high purpose, religion is always wrong. At its very best, religion may provide prophylactic psychological comfort. At worst, it is a justification for crimes against humanity.

Conclusions…

Science does prove that evolution is a fact, which proves that creationists are wrong. However, we do not need science to see that all religion including Christianity is just pervasive superstition and insanity.

When we see a modern movie about “Pirates in the Caribbean,” we do not believe the movie is real. Stories of the dead walking and talking are obviously fiction. Mythological monsters are obviously fiction. Supernatural beings are fiction. Super heroes are fiction. Living “happily ever after” is fiction. Immortality is fiction. We know that the story is fictional. We know that the special effects were made by artists and computers. We do not need science to “effectively prove or disprove” that the movie is fiction.

Christianity is less believable than a movie. Christianity, like all religion, is a fiction; a poorly conceived one at that.

Science does not enter into the matter.

Science deals with things on the material plane. Religions (including Christianity) deal with the spiritual. Science can neither prove nor disprove the existence of God. But fundamentalists should not get so hung up about evolution since that's an issue that deals with the physical world not the spiritual.

As a teenager of Christian upbringing this is an issue that causes some of the biggest conflict in my life.

Listen to my Religious Education teacher and my parish Preist or listen to my science teacher and the rest of the scientific world.

One thing I have noticed is that the two are not mutually exclusive. It's not one or the other.

The Christian Creation stories are not actually accepted as the truth. In fact, the two Creation Stories in Genesis are different to each other anyway.

My R.E teacher said that while these stories are not fact, it is a way for Christians to explain their existance.

For the purpose of your question, "Does science more effectively prove or disprove Christianity?" I suppose one would say it disproves it.

However it all comes down to your faith and what you believe, as there is nothing to prove that the science side to our existence is the whole truth either.

Sigh.

Science is a very useful tool, invented and used by people to discover and predict how our universe works.

Faith is a deep-rooted belief in the unprovable.

The two operate from different frames of reference. It is not logical to mix the two.

So no. Science neither proves nor disproves Christianity. And neither does the Bible prove or disprove any particular scientific theory.

(Personally, I believe our reason, curiosity, and ingenuity, which led us to develop Science, are wonderful gifts from God. But that's just me.)

No. The kinds of statements made by religions can not be proved or disproved scientifically. You accept them or you don't. Kierkegaard took this idea very far. He considered no amount of scientific evidence, even something as blatant as somebody producing the body of Christ would change his faith, because faith is a choice that is personal and esoteric in nature; it has nothing to do with evidence.
Most people would fall short of Kierkegaard's idea, but his point is well taken. The reasons people have to believe or not to believe fall beyond the realm of reason.

Science 100% completely totally unequivocly disproves Christianity.

The existence of god is a seperate issue. Existence is impossible to disprove, however there is zero scientific evidence in favor of the God Hypothesis, therefore it is unreasonable to hold a belief in god.

Surveys show that approximately 10-15% of professional scientists consider themselves to believe in "god", though many of those are deists (such as Einstein was) and not Christians. Scientists who are religious are quick to remind us that they take religion strictly on faith rather than science.

Science shows us that the universe appears exactly as it would if there were no god. And it explicity refutes the specific claims of Christianity itself.

The notion of gods are hypotheses. Without evidence they are not science but philosophy. There is enough science to completely dismiss the notion of any god.

Many scientists believe there is no God, so it is difficult to find science that proves the truth. One scientist who does extensive work to prove the truth of the Bible is Dr. Kent Hovind. Visit his website at http://www.drdino.com

In my life I have witnessed science prove Christianity. I am good with that.

It contradicts religion as far as I know.
Religious faithfuls should focus on the 'how my faith can make me a better person' part rather than the 'i can talk to god and i will go to heaven' part. That would be the more practical aspect of religion in modern times.
