Everyone seems to be mixing Britain up!

Ian or Iain is definitely a Scottish name- it is the Scottish version of John. Rhiannon or Riannon is Welsh and Christopher is the English version of the Greek name, Christophóros.

Aiden is certainly Irish and I love this name and will be calling my baby this if I have a boy. Ciara is a nice Irish girl's name but if I have a girl I am pretty sure I will be calling her Ashley (which is English).

I have an Ian, almost two years old. My very Irish friends named thier son Brodi, and yet another named his son Sean Patrick. My cousin and his wife who was born in Ireland have a boy named Oran. Erin is a very common girls name, as is Megan. Kelly is also Irish in origin. Babyzone.com is great for searching. GOOD LUCK!

try going to:
http://www.babynamesworld.com/

you can search by origins, gender, the works. it also has tips for when choosing like:

Test it out
Our advice: If you’ve come up with a name but you still feel it sounds strange, say it out loud. Talk to and about your unborn child using that name. You will be able to tell for sure, this way, if it ‘fits’,

a checklist of questions to ask if you think you've found "the one"

and also, "How NOT to name you're baby"

It helped me out a LOT, and GOOD LUCK!!

girl or boy: Sloan(e)

LOVE the name! And not as common as a lot of other Irish names out there, which I like, but still simple and doable.

girl or boy: Logan
girl: Alanna (or other spelling) and Lianna
boy: Liam and Bailey
