I would like a mixture of Fancy Goldfish in my aquarium, how many goldfish can I put in a 30 gallon tank, keeping in mind that I might also put a couple plants and other decorative objects in there?

At a full adult size, that tank will hold 2 or at most 3 fancy goldfish. They do actually get pretty big with around 7-8" being average.

That does leave room for decor and plants

like magicman said. 2 maybe 3 at most.

fancy goldfish require minumum of 20 gallons for the first fish, then 10 gallons for each additional goldfish.
if your filter is good and you do your water changes properly three would probably be okay.

the do get big, and make a lot of waste.

dont put in live plants goldfish eat anything they can put in there mouths.

3 max. 2 would be happier. Opt for something real nice and spend money on high quality instead of quantity.
Check these fish out.
www.dandyorandas.com (expensive but worth it - best quality)
www.goldfishnet.com (little less expensive - watch for good deals)
www.goldfishutopia.com (best price - decent quality)
Good luck, they offer what the pet stores do not.
