Punks in my neighborhood were slashing my tires. One day I drove my car to school and the right tire went flat. The mechanic at a popular autorepair place put a new tire on and the next day a different tire went flat. My friend said the mechanic should of checked the tire pressure, but that is probably one more thing he really does not have to do.

For routine maintance, always do it yourslelf. Never trust those guys. They make just over minimum wage, and their bosses always back them up so that they will not be responsible for mistakes. More cars have been ruined because of the quick oil change than anything else in auto history.

Even the basic and least expensive oil change at PepBoys has a rather long check list of things they are supposed to check.

This includes all fluid levels including differentials that have a fill plug that is removable and manual transmissions that have fill holes/plugs.

Tire pressure is typically included on most oil changes but if anything gets neglected during the oil change service, this is it. Unfortunately. If you ask to see the check list from the service tech or mechanic it should list the tire pressure for all four tires and if you get a new tire, it will list the torque settings on the lug nuts which are checked by a second tech or mechanic. .

Good Luck!

They are supposed to check the pressure if you get a package. If you just tell them you need an oil change then that is all they are going to do. I used to work at PepBoys.

Usualy people that work there don't go out of their way to check EVERYTHING unless you ask them to and many times it costs a little more.

If it's their "checklist" they will, but not if it's not.

yeah usually you check just what the customer asks. So tell them to check either every thing or just what you want it depends on you.
