If you were given the choice of granting gays all the 'privileges/rights' they are demanding in America but it would mean the toppling of the US government as a result, would you find it worth the price?
Looking for honest candid answers.

If you mean that it would through the United States into a period of anarchy or complete lawlessness, my answers would be no. The crime rate would sky rocket. All order would be lost. The amount of people that would be hurt would not be worth it. If you simply mean it would put an end to the corrupt governing body that we currently live under and replace it with a true Democracy then I say two birds with one stone.

The honest candid answer is going beyond the framework you set and looking at the motivation behind it, which seems to be constructing a scenario so ridiculous that people would want to say no to gay rights. Why not: "If given the choice that keeping all contraceptives on the market would topple the U.S. Government, would you allow heterosexuals to keep having consensual sex when it clearly won't result in the birth of a child?"
Or how about: "If eliminating all the world's religions would bring an end to poverty and war, would you take steps to 'convert' people to Atheism?"
See the point here? Believe it or not we dare to look behind the curtain, Mr. Wizard.

That would be impossible. The government is there to secure rights. It would be like saying, "Would you be willing to have a beautiful body but it would mean you died in the process?"

We would have to have SOME government, and since one of the factors of gay rights means being free, just as everyone else is free, then we'd be voting another government into power that would keep us all free and equal.

If you're talking about having the Republicans lose and having the Democrats win in order to have rights, then that's not the same thing. We largely keep the government, we just change the managers in such a switch.

By the way, I cannot help but think that you are hiding an agenda. If you think you are going to find that gay people are not patriotic by asking this question, then I suggest you look in the mirror. If you had to have America end as we know it in order to KEEP the same rights you have (freedom of assembly, association, marriage, relocation, ownership, and everything else associated with life, liberty & the pursuit of happiness, would you sacrifice your rights and those of your loved ones to have America survive, or would you seek to restructure America so as to have your rights survive? If you have the courage of our forefathers, you'd find a way to ensure freedom before the existence of any given state.

The interesting thing is, the laws that are changing to benefit Gays, are done so for the good of the country. For example, companies and federal agencies have changed their discrimination policies to protect Gays because they are in desperate need for good talent to fill vacancies, they offer benefits to attract Gays to their workplace.

Fact is, those who are discriminated against, attacked, oppressed, etc., will suffer from low self-esteem. Low self-esteem leads to unhealthy behaviors. Unhealthy behaviors include: violent crimes, health problems that burden the health system, and a loss sense of solidarity within our nation. On the other hand, those who are protected and held in high esteem, are more productive and therefore contribute more to the greater society.

When Gays came out of the closet back in the 60's and 70's, look at how many debilitating neighborhoods were brought back to life. Look how successful many LGBT People are when they work in an environment that supports us.

How equality brings down a Nation is absurd, even if it is hypothetical.

The toppling of America has already been accomplished by the Bush administration.

Just look, we now have the patriot act, the department of homeland security, religious fanatics running departments, a liar forgiven, a vice president who can't admit he makes mistakes.

Good God, open your eyes, giving equal rights to gays and lesbians will not change anything other than to make them equal. They already pay the same taxes, shouldn't they get the same rights? Isn't that what this country is founded on?

Equal treatment for all Americans would be the realization of American ideals in government. It would not topple it.

But religious conservatives who oppose the separation of church and state may be disintegrating the secular American government, law by law. Why the heck is there anyone backing an amendment banning gay marriage? When did people decide that discrimination should become part of the Constitution in the twenty-first century?

The United States Declaration of Independence states "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness."

The Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution states that "All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."

US Federal Law states "Employers may not treat employees or applicants more or less favorably because of their religious beliefs or practices", "Employers must permit employees to engage in religious expression", and "Employers must take steps to prevent religious harassment of their employees. An employer can reduce the chance that employees will engage unlawful religious harassment by implementing an anti-harassment policy and having an effective procedure for reporting, investigating and correcting harassing conduct."... there are no federal laws giving these same protections to gay people, which is in direct violation of the US Constitution.

If the US is unwilling to follow it's own laws by giving all of it's citizens the same legal protections enjoyed by others there is no government to topple since it is no longer a government based on equality but has become a fascist state.

I have less concern about that than what I see happening right now in the government. We have a constant erosion of civil rights. Read the Patriot Act. I have. Habeas corpus is gone. Right to know what you are charged with is gone. Right to counsel is gone. Right to a speedy trial is gone. Right to a jury of your peers is gone.

People are languishing in prison for crimes equal to those of Scooter Libby. They have asked for their sentences to be commuted but Bush pays no attention and moves his buddy to the head of the line. Even Martha Stewart is an example.

People like Ann Coulter publicly insult and demean the 9-11 widows and the Edwards, and she is not shunned but lauded as a spokesperson for the religious right (who are neither).

We are spending 2 billion dollars a week on Iraq. A child in Florida just died from an abscessed tooth because his mom could not find a dentist who took Medicaid. People in Florida wait 3 or more years for Social Security Disability hearings.

Wake up. The government is already toppling.

Good God. GLBT's got equality in Canada and the moral fabric of the universe didn't tear..the government held..the world continues just as it had before. Equalizing gays is no big deal for a government to do. Everyone is so afraid of gay power(well maybe they should be afraid of that).
AND PLEASE WOULD YOU DEFINE 'GAY AGENDA' --I'VE BEEN GAY 58 YEARS AND I STILL HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT IS.

Gays are demanding civil rights; they want the same rights and privileges that the rest of America has. How could one group's struggle for civil rights be viewed as subversive?
