Do not run. A dog is faster than the average human so it'll easily catch up, and running will only make things worse by awakening it's natural predatory instinct. It also puts you in a more vulnerable position if you run. One of the most important things is to protect yourself. Cover your neck and throat, because that's a vulnerable part of the body that a dog is likely to go after. If you are able, you can pin the dog down or otherwise immobilize it, but it's not a priority over protecting everything vital.

I didn't use to, but throughout the years I realized how important it really is to defend myself. Now I constantly stick up for myself, no matter what I don't let anybody mess with me because I've already dealt with enough from people in my life.
