Recently, I have been conflicted with my life....see Previous Questions..from me...I sat down with Mike (friend) tonight..and over the course of dinner...I have come to the conclusion...That I am Gay. We talked at great Length about it. He told me "that he always suspected" that I was.

Now that you know....And that I know....I would like to apologize for lying to you in a way...by promoting myself as straight. I have always felt that me being straight was just an act so to speak....If that makes sense?

Please forgive me. Please help me to be a better gay person.

Your Friend, (I hope) Nate

You took a big step in admitting it to yourself and a friend. I am proud of you for admitting it to yourself. You are forgiven

It's okay... Alot of closeted people constantly tell everybody that they are straight. I had a whole high school convinced that I was straight. Then when I finally came out, everyone was perfectly fine with it because they apparently always had suspisions. Congradulations though. You should find yourself some gay friends who you can get close to and talk to them about things. That's the best advice I can give. Don't worry about what others will think because if you do you will be depressed and miserable. The best thing to do is tell yourself, "screw what other people think. I am me and they can either take me the way I am or they can go to hell." Good luck guy!

There is nothing to forgive. Stop being so hard on yourself. We all took time to decide what was best for ourselves.

We are all just happy that yu have begun the porcess of being true to yourself. That is most important. Use this forum to answer your questions and if Mike is a trye friend he will be your best support system.

Nate, you are already a better person for finally being able to be the person you are today. Your friend sounds like a nice man and a good friend. Of course, you are a friend to me as well. Good luck to you.

I forgive ya Nate. To be a better gay person, just be yourself. I know it's hard to come out of the closet but now that you're out...Yee Haw.

Doesn't it feel great to be able to be honest with yourself and others? I know I tried passing myself off as straight for years; but there comes a time when you just can lie anymore and you want to finally be a happy productive person :)

My advice to you now that you've come to terms with this is DON'T BECOME A MANWHORE!. It's all too easy to do to find someone and have a great one night stand but you don't want that, trust me. You want long term commitment and in order to get that you need a carreer. Don't forget that lucrative employment is important for a balanced psyche. With time you will find someone who is like minded and all the pieces will fall into place. Don't get a boyfriend just to have a boyfriend.

I do not consider you lying... you were stating what you perceived yourself to be because that is what others have told you that you should be. Most gay people have thought of themselves as straight, and have tried to be something that they are not because of it. If there should be an apology, it should be from people who tell others that they are supposed to be straight while not knowing anything about them.

A lot of gays have felt the need to bend to social or religious pressure to be straight. Their opposite sex friends are called beards. I'm not, but my brother is & a few friends. I understand. Be true to yourself.

Nate.

The strength that you have shown to yourself, your fiend and now to all the rest... is amazing...

That strenght to be honest with yourself is the greatest gift.

And.. no need to help you be a better person... you have already done that...

Also... I would be honored to say you are a friend.. even if it is a yahoo answers friend...

May happiness continue in your life...
