It's business as usual in Washington with the GOP. They're so hypocritical even THEY can't keep up with the contradictions. It's sad that the Republican party has come to this. Fear not, though - there are real GOP'ers out there like Ron Paul.

Presidential pardons are something that all presidents use, normally when leaving office and in cases that have no links to the president. In the Libby case, although not a pardon but a commutation of a sentence, there is a direct link to the White House and it involves a case where there are still many questions to be answered. Is it possible the Bush White House was afraid Libby may be more open to discussing the facts surrounding the case had he had to serve his sentence and been made to be the fall guy for higher ups? Just something to think about.

Who said that? Not me. And I would not agree. Just about all presidents issue pardons near the end of their term. And most lame duck administrations take a few casualties from pure;y partisan politics. Facts of life. Do you happen to know the first president to use the power of the pardon? Not surprisingly, it was the first president.
