'Undocumented' and 'Alien' mean the same thing immigration wise. It's like a double negative, they are so annoying!

to me this statement means that they must have been documenting aliens for a while...and during the documenting process, an alien escaped leaving no clues and no leads...like he never existed...lol

but you make an assumption about what kind of documentation they're talking about
