Speaking very honestly, I hope you give the idea of "past lives" a second thought. What makes you think that you've had any past lives, or that anybody ever has had a "past life"?

The idea of past lives is a religious one and there is no objective evidence for them. If this is a religious idea you are pursuing, then I probably can't dissuade you. But if you are pursuing this because somebody has convinced you that past lives are real or you just "have to believe" for some reason, I hope you don't waste your time and money on your hypnotherapy sessions. Also, please be aware that false memory syndrome (see link) is a very real possibility with hypnotherapy. Your therapist may only be implanting the false memories that you want to have based on your beliefs in past lives. That won't help you. Please give it some thought and best wishes.

Do this exercise: when you lay down to sleep at night think about 5 things you have done during the day in reverse order then continue as far as you can to the day before and the day before that until you can go five days back without falling asleep. this will eventually lead to remembering things from this lifetime that you have forgotten with great clarity and then develop into remembering past lives spontaneously. It takes a while to develop this ability but it does work if you stick with and as a side effect greatly improves your memory and focus in general.

The best way to do this is through meditation. You will find several meditations to take you back in your life, and you go back to before you were born, and see if there are any memories there. It is reallly a form of self-hypnosis regression. Brian Weiss has a really good book, Many Lives, Many Masters that talks about his experiences with past life regressions, and his book after that had a CD in it to do meditations for self regressions. I believe some people have been here many times before, but others are on only their first life. You can read up on the subject and find out how to do the meditations yourself, and then just write down your dreams and thoughts that come to you in the meditations and keep track of the fleeting things and see what comes of it. You might be on your first time around, or you may have been here many times before. Good luck.

There is a point where in the mystery of existence contradictions meet; where movement is not all movement and stillness is not all stillness; where the idea and the form, the within and the without, are united; where infinite becomes finite, yet not losing its infinity. If this meeting is dissolved, then things become unreal.

Maybe you should ask the hypnotherapist? I would think they'd be the expert in that area.

I'll ask you a question. If we have lived past lives why don't we just remember them?Imagine being able to use lessons learned in a past life in our present.Maybe we're not supposed to,remember.Maybe that's what the Universe wants. If all of us lived before. Why are there more of us now.Are new entities created.Who decides if an embryo is implanted with an old one or a new one.The more I think of it maybe past lives make little sense. The math doesn't work.I think it's more a case of wanting a past life more exiting then our present one.

Again, someone wanting to know about thier past life. You dont have a past life.
I know those Indians are pretty wise, with worshiping cows and playing with cobras and all. However, I honestly think they are wrong on this one.
A hypnotherapist who convinces you that you are experiencing something that actually happened to you in a past life is being dishonest. They are leading you in a fantasy, and although there may possibly be thereputic benefits, it does not represent past lives.

Thats a tough question. No idea. i would like to know also. Why dont you want to use a hypnotist? dont you think it would be dangerous to yourself to recover into a past life without help back to the present?

I have read the answers above and they are soooo right. Like aliens from another planet, the abominable snowman and Nessie, those things whet the imagination and have no more substance than Noah and the Ark or the snake and the apple.
