a legacy of shame and scandal.

The '94 strike and steroids....not to mention not showing up when Bonds hits number 756. He's a tool.

His contract runs through 2009, but honestly, I think he'll keep getting renewed (all he has to do is ask) and someday die in office, as eventually the demonic blood transfusions won't be enough to keep his withered carcass ambulatory.

Legacy, positive: unprecedented growth of the baseball business. Four expansion teams (doesn't deserve credit for the first two, really). New parks for nearly all the teams (important to note -- except for San Francisco, paid for with PUBLIC monies; honestly, owning a baseball team is like having a license to print money). Expanded postseason and the wildcard berths. Interleague play. (There's more, but these are the heavy hitters.)

Note that EVERYTHING listed above, feeds into growing the business. That's his job, that's what he does, and no matter how odious a figure he cuts, he has been good at selling the game. (I loathe the man, but I won't deny him the fruits of his efforts, no matter how barbaric, underhanded, or extortionary those efforts have been.)

Legacy, negative: the steroids scandal, and the 1994-95 players strike and cancelled World Series. These are the two great albatrosses tied around his scaly neck, and he deserves to own them.

The day Seligula gets a plaque in Cooperstown is the day we have a new, permanent, holder of the dubious "Least Deserving Member Of The Hall" title.
