i ean skateboarding is about passion and fun not about being rude!! why the **** do people think all skaters are ruff and mean....gosh you gotta understand that their just POSERS...we donto skate to sue the property owners and not to ruin the stuffs!! STOP thinkin of this STOP STOP pleas its not to be angry but pls think before criticizing sk8boarders....

My youngest son has been skating before he went to kindergarten, so almost literally, his entire life. (He's 22 now). He's a very conscientious skater, and he's good at it, despite knowing every orthopedic doctor in town!
I think some people don't like skaters because they're afraid that if someone falls and hurts themselves really badly, the owner of the property will be sued for damages.
Also, some skaters are arrogant and discourteous. Not anyone my son hangs out with, but there are some... and unfortunately, the bad ones get the rep that everyone else has to defend...

Some cops are cool and some arent. They are stuck with enforcing the law, if your town says you can't skate in the street you have a decent chance of getting a ticket or getting your board confiscated. I wonder why they ever came up with those laws in the first place. I had a board confiscated and got a ticket. So I mostly dont skate streets much.

I don't think its the skaters they hate, I think its the rudeness of the skaters. First, why do skaters think that its their right to skate down cement steps in front of a public building that people are walking around. Why should we have to move for you? Go to a skate park and I won't hate you.

I honestlly think the older "sports" guys dont like skaters because it isnt a traditional sport, and, you know older people are all about tradition....Im not a big skate fan, but, I have alot of respect for what they do.

Yes, it is hobby. It is a hobby that can be destructive with grinding on concrete and metal fixtures. If you are just skating without breaking laws, then the police will have no reason to hassle you. But, if oyu are destroying private or public property, then the police should hassle you.
