Al Davis is beyond bad. He is pathetic.

The big thing about Al Davis is that he's grown senile in his old age. He is, however, far from the worst.

Folks in St. Louis will maintain that Bill Bidwell is the NFL's worst owner. I think they're right: Bidwell has never had a clue how to run an NFL team. Fortunately for the Cardinals, his sons are taking over and actually seem to know something about football.

Other bad owners include the Bengals' Mike Brown, pre-Marvin Lewis, and the Lions' William Clay Ford (as in Ford Motors).

I agree, Al Davis is an horrible owner. His strategies are of the past and limits the control the managers have on the team. His recent actions as a club owner speaks for itself. Raiders fans, I'm sorry to say this, but your team is going in a downward slope. Unless Al Davis can relinquish some of his control over the team and let the managers and coaches do their job, the Raiders will continue their losing ways.

Well, Jerry Jones defintely deserves some consideration, but I'd say Al Davis is the worst. I mean, both are terrible owners, both have no business being GMs, but at least Jones has had a few winning seasons as of late, while Davis's Raiders are awful.

Al Davis has won three super bowls, has been to another within just the last seven years, and his hardline stance during the NFL-AFL war lead to such a sweetheart deal for the AFL during the merger and helped build the NFL into the success it is today. Albeit I realize these things are in the past and now he's obviously past his prime as both an owner and general manager and he should probably step down, but there are other owners in the League who are just as incompetant without nearly as many accomplishments as Al Davis.

Mike Brown is an obvious example. His dad was arguably the most respected(and revered) man in the history of pro football and he took his dad's team and made it into his personal piggy bank. For years he ran the Bengals on a minimal budget while living off the money guarenteed him by being an NFL owner. His hardline stance on free agency and collective bargaining has caused many issues in owner's meetings. However, Mike realized the error of his ways and began investing more money and allowed more control to the coaches in recent years, although the surge of Bengals player arrests reflects on his lack of oversight.

I wouls have to say the worst owner in the NFL is William Clay Ford. He is clearly incompetant and is fiercely loyal to a man (Matt Millen) who is also clearly incompetant. If you have seen how the Ford company has done in recent years it's clear that this man doesn't know how to run a car company or a football team.

Any 70 or 80 year old (not sure exactly how old he is) who is still wearing jogging suits and doesn't jog is obviously out of touch with reality. He has yet to realize that the NFL has changed since 1983. So yes, I would say he is the worst although Detroit is right there. Who else would hire their offensive coordinator from a bed and breakfast besides Davis?

As a Bronco fan, it's in my contract to " hate " the Raiders. I do respect the franchise, though. The Bronco / Raider rivalry is the best in the NFL in my opinion. As for Davis......once again, I have respect for everything he's done for the league. He was a HUGE contributor in getting the AFL....now AFC, started. Having said that......yes....he's turned into the worst owner in the NFL. He needs to realize that the game has passed him by, and let some new blood start making the football descisions for the Raiders. He's been horrible at picking players......his offensive philosophy is outdated.....he undermines his coaches. The bttom line is that I don't see the Raiders getting much better until the old man steps aside. Good luck with that. As much as I dislike the Raiders, I'd like to see them be competative again.

Al Davis has only won 1 title in over 40 years. It just goes to show you that even idiots get lucky now and then.

The Detroit Lions are doing a great job imitating the Raiders right now. Maybe 20 years without a serious title run isn't so bad?

P.S. Go Patriots!!!!!! Number 4 baby WOOOOOOOOO

i think al davis was the owner of the raiders for pretty long, long enough to win a few super bowls, so i can't say he's the worse owner, but i believe it's time for him to sell the team even thought its has been part of his life for almost 50 years now.

He is a bad owner but in my opinion I think the clown that owns the Lions is probably the worst owner, just look at the draft picks and why do you think Barry Sanders retired

The cadaverous one is driving the Raiders into the dirt. They have been the NFLs worst team the past two years. I could do a much better job, I would at leat motivate them to beat the Donkies twice a year.
