It is backwards to think that the environment was designed for our senses. Our senses were "designed" (by natural selection) for our environment.
There is no reason to suspect that another galexy differs from ours in any respect that would nullify the efficacy of our senses. The only sense that even applies in any sense to a "galexy" is sight, and we already do see them so that one at least is confirmed.
The other senses would not percieve a galexy as a whole in any way, they are capable of perception only upon a world, and there could be worlds on which our sense of smell/taste or hearing would be ill-suited, however we would likely still recieve information through them, it would just err more drastically and more often.
Touch should function the same on any world on which we could survive at all.

Our 5 senses developed to suit the conditions of our environment. The range of perception of each of our senses have limits. However, because of our scientific study of our senses and the natural world we have found ways to extend our perceptions beyond our sensory limits and we have developed capabilities and abilities to perceive and understand the natural world including distant galaxies in ways many never imagined by those who came before us. I say many meaning some because there were visionaries who saw far into the future before anyone else did. People like Plato, like Leonardo Davinci and Einstein, to name only a very few. They all believed that Reason was by far superior to any of our physical senses because they all used thought experiments to make sense of reality.
Good Q, I hope my A helps you to focus on what you are interested in in philosophy and science.

Hmmmm, I'm not exactly certain that I understand you, but I will hazard a response nonetheless.
No. The Milky Way is our galaxy. That we cannot see other galaxies very well is a limitation due to our circumstances (we are on a planet with atmosphere, our vision is limited, etc.).
