Hi all, my system specs are:

-Intel Pentium D 3.2 GHz (dual core)
-2GB RAM
-Geforce 6800GS 256MB

I play The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion at 1440x900 and get about 20 frames/second avg. in the outside environment. Im wondering exactly how much of a frame-rate increase should i expect if I replaced my Geforce 6800GS with a:

-Geforce 7800GTX?
-Geforce 8600GTS?
-Geforce 8800GTS?

Thanks.

If i were to upgrade to, say, the 8800 GTX, would my CPU be a culprit in holding back performance or is it good enough to keep up with the 8800GTX?

Thx again and a special thx to those who have contributed already.

Here are some benchmarks at lower resolution but max quality.

Take it as reference only since 6800GT is there but no 6800GS. Also, 8600GTS is not there but it performs below an x1950 Pro. So expect awesome improvement with the 8800GTS and decent improvement with both the 7800GTX and 8600GTS.

on one of my gaming rigs i have a similar setup:
PD 930 3.0ghz oc'd to 3.8ghz
2gb ddr2 533mhz ram
8800gtx
1680x something (i think)

i get around 40 fps roaming outdoors, and i have seen up to 120 in houses.

i'd get the 8600 or 8800

To get accurate answers, your better off searching yahoo or google, there's so many different configurations that most answers you'll get here are more like guesses.
