Dear brother, from the range of answers you have harvested so far, both favouring your idea and other wise, you would have come to some clarity about the wisdom of leaving your place..
Just reflect for a moment... Long long before your country received the immigrants from other places to serve you and earn for them too, your ancestors have virtually travelled and settled all over the world and even colonised them... The murders carried out officially by the settlers on the locals are legion.. Yet those countries are keeping diplomatic friendship with you and their citizens are serving you... why? They think that You are not subscribers to the murders of your ancestors...
There is terror all over the globe... because there is hate and hostility in the minds of most of us.. only thing is some of us spit our anger in letters and question boxes, while more aggressive ones take to bombs and guns..
You know, in Kashmir where the terrorists abduct and kill people day in and day out, the people have not run away... They shout and protest and still live there in the hope of better days.. peace is eluding ever so many people around the globe that we can not simply worry just about our safety. We have to work for the collective safety - in thought word and deed...
If you are honest about the safety of the mankind as a whole, then you are worthy of the protection by the Almighty.. So pray for the peace of mankind...There are a whole lot of good and innocent people who deserve to be saved in the first place, more than haughty and influential ones like us...
Pray for their lives,,, the whole brood of terrorists would vanish in due course... certainly. Till then your service for peace would leave trails of security and peace around you... God bless you!

I moved to Japan 6 years ago as I felt the same as you. I have been living here up until now and can say without a doubt that it is generally a more pleasant country to live in. I miss England in some ways and want to return home at times but I am happier here due to the lower rates of crime and violence. Of course there are bad points about emigrating as every country has it's weak points and here they seem to be work and health care. You talk about the NHS getting worse but I now have to pay health insurance which only covers 70 per cent of the hospital costs. If I break my arm the insurance will cover the majority but I still have to shell out about 1000 pounds from my own pocket. The insurance also costs 140 pounds per month (although it's based on your income). The work ethic is also far different and some days I work 16 hours without overtime pay. I also work 6 days a week rather than 5. Every country has it's pro's and con's and as far as I am aware none are perfect. You have to choose what are the most important aspects of life to you to decide if you should leave.

The few events that took place in the UK is a small issue compared to the situations in Iraq, Sri Lanka, and what took place in Croatia, Lebanon, few African Countries etc.
The NHS needs doctors currently as there is a shortage and if you calculate, most of its sections are lead by foreign doctors, whose knowledge and expertise is much needed in the country.
It is the uncontrolled immigration of foreigners, influx of uneducated and unspecialised individuals, that may create racial unharmony (if there is a word like that).
If you take all foreigners out of the country, there would still be crimes of rape of innocents, thefts, battering of people : injustice taking place. There would be no difference. As we are all human.
Foreigners don't just go shooting people on the road. They are human.
Its upto you if you want to stay or not. If you are an American you are a foreigner there yourself. If you feel unsafe... do go back home. But America is at a higher threat level than the UK. Just that it is such a large country that the ethnic mixture is not easily felt as in the British Isles.
Imagine yourself (an American) working as a good doctor in Berlin in 1938, helping people; just coz you were American living there, would that have made you a spy or a plotter?

Since you seem really unhappy, maybe you should leave. But i gotta say, that most developed countries (like the UK, US, etc.) have lots of immigrants moving in. So, it's probably something we're all just gonna get used to.
Also, troops getting killed in Iraq is awful, but i'm surprised it makes you want to leave the country. I mean, I'm from the US and look at all our political issues and Iraq problems--but it doesnt make me want to leave the US.
Ok, it sounds like the area where you live has a crime problem, so maybe you should move to a different area of town, or a different town.
Good luck, and i hope you end up happy wherever you live!

Iraq is a mess, I agree. However the UK has one of the "free" health systems in the world, crime is high, but then it is in most Western countries. The grass may look greener on the other side, but I am proud to be British, I just not proud of the government.

Firstly, do your homework on the Country you are interested in the most Secondly, get a job agreed , before you go.
Every Country has its advantages /disadvantages, ups/downs, that's why I live in Spain, without wellington boots.!!

I work with several British expats here in the US and they seem very happy to be here. Western Europe in general seems to struggling with a much tougher immigration problem than the one we are addressing over here. If there's a chance for you to leave, you might be better off in the long term.

If you get the opportunity, then go. Most of my family has got out of Britain and would not return for anything, especially while it's in such a critical mess. My family have good lives in New Zealand & Spain, so yes, if I were you, I would definitely go.

Dear, Australian also murdered the aboriginals who actually are the real owners of Australia. Australia was a jail for English, it seems they have not changed that way of thinking. Second leave less people the better
