It has to be lighter fluid. Like others have said, it does not have to be a "name brand" lighter fluid. Any old lighter fluid will do.

When I was in the military during the Vietnam War, we used to sometimes use gasoline in Zippo lighters. I do not recommend it. It is not good for the lighter and it causes the lighter to give off a lot of black smoke.

There is something "classic" about using a Zippo lighter. It brings back a lot of old stories and memories.

Lighter fluid, but it doesn't have to be Zippo brand. But don't use grilling lighter fluid! Just go to a tobacco store.

Here is what you basically asked: "Hey I have a bird and a dog. The bird breaths air on one side of the house, and the dog breaths air on the opposite side. If i swap the dog and the bird, will they still be able to breath air?" and my answer is " Yes, both dogs and birds breath air." Christ dude.. if it has the same port, then use it. Its just butane. You are not going to die.
