By rejecting the intimidation inherent in it.

That's really an admission of having been intimidated. Currently I have to deal with the odd prospect of being overcome by the immoderate desire for experiences (not just a particular one, but as many sundry ones as I can manage without bankrupting myself). Ultimately, though, my efforts to assert myself for the betterment of others, the universe, ect., will not be not determined by what I was, am, or will be. Somehow I am accutely aware of the need to be in harmony with that which wants to "be" through my being. Examining one's experiences requires (warning-an allusion follows) geometry and finesse. Thinking is the greatest pleasure I have ever known, and whatever comes after is where you'll find the indelible mark for posterity.

Thanks for the question, Kimberly.

I think I live a life that matters by being the best person I can be, by being true to myself, being good to my family and friends, by raising a son who grows up to be a good, caring and productive member of society and also by giving back to the same community that I live in to try and make it a better place to live.

I was a single mother for 7 years and yet I still put my son in baseball, competative swimming, Cub Scouts and so on; I attended all his school events! But at tthe same time I volunteered with the American Red Cross as a Disaster Shelter Manager and Family Service Caseworker. I volunteered to clean up a local road through my office as part of Adopt-A-Highway.

My idea of living a life that matters is to live the best you can, teach your children how to live their lives well, love with all your heart and give back to the world in some manner, even if it is just in your small community in this world.

Yes

My short life has been one of friendship and kindness, and love towards other - so shall my career be for the benefit of others. I have no care for money, and I am lucky to have been born with that defect, lol. It matters because it makes other people's lives better.

my life 'matters' by finding and fulfilling things i believe in. i have found love and my life is fulfilled because of my jen! i have encountered several causes that 'matter' to me and i share them with those i feel might have an interest in them, or benefit from them. things that 'matter' to me lately (but not exclusively) include 'leave no trace', family, urbanism, love, photography, and permaculture. these are not 'shallow', they have deeper meanings behind them, and probably share a common thread i'm not yet aware of.

i feel i leave the world a better place after i pass by a corner of it, by taking into account the needs and feelings of other people. by doing this repeatedly, i slowly begin to 'matter' to other people as well, and the feeling grows. if only all of us mattered more to each other, and less to ourselves...

when i don't know what to say
don't know what to do
don't know if it really even matters to you
how can i make you see
it matters to me

To find your mission in life is to discover the intersection between your heart’s deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger (Frederick Beekner).

If you want to know how to live a life that matters, then love someone deeply.

I'm a bit confused by this one....I live a life that matters to friends and family, but in the larger scheme of things, my life is insignificant.

Serve others the best I can with the Christ teaching me how to do it. Sometimes I wish I were a better student. Heck a lot of the times I wish I was a better student.

By looking outward and helping others; being kind, being the best you can be. In the end, the degree of meaning in your life equals the degree of service you've been to others.
