In terms of music,
the sixties saw folk music groups and soft rock groups get most of the attention.
In the seventies, elongated chromatics replaced meaningful lyrics and complex themes
In the eighties, non-singers replaced performers with talent, voices and intelligence, often dressing curiously.
In the nineties, Broadway was invaded and taken over by folk accent non-singers and Disneyesque adolescent lyricists.
That's just in music of course.
In TV, the sixties saw the last of the Silver Age of television, with a slow dwindling of one-hour dramatic shows and a falling off of the number of westerns.
In the seventies, physical action, car chases and one-liner insult comedy replaced shows about thinking adults.
In the eighties, dramas were turned into police shows, and 40% of the actors on comedies were children in family-oriented settings.
In the nineties, drama disappeared in favor of expensive made-for tv projects, while comedy became unabashed parodies of adult characters in shows featuring prurient sexual references and untrained actors.
