Is seeing the bad a choice? How often do our first impressions fail us, whether our perceptions were positive or negative. More often than not I've perceived people as something negative, and later have found the positive.
Especially in considering a relationship, consider this: He/She is attractive, smart, funny. kind, so then aren't you left with the question of what's wrong with them? Isn't this the natural progression of thought in all of us? Don't we all ask ourselves if someone or something is actually as good as they seem?
Take a car for example, of course "what kind of car is it?" is your first question, but afterwards aren't you more concerned about what's wrong with it than what's right with it? Honestly, which question do you ask first, "How many miles does it have on it?" or "does it have a CD player?"
So to answer your question, if I see the bad first, I usually stop looking at it, and if I see what I like, I question why I like it, and then try to figure out what's dislikable about it, if anything. And I'd be inclined to think that I wasn't the only one in the world with this same thought process.

good and bad are relative terms they depend on what your perception of good and bad are I just look at the world around me for what it is. I try not to make judgements whenever possible. the world is what it is it could be either but who are we to judge it.

It's human nature to always look for the bad, c'mon now, let's be realistic.
But you have to train your mind to always give people the benefit of the doubt, no matter how much of an @rse-hole they may tend to be...

I try to look for both. You can't live in bliss or pure unhappiness without seeing everything there is to see...if that makes sense
