how much would it cost extra for long distance calls...?
say if you bought a cell phone from Verizon Wireless in another state such as maybe dowtown chicago(since they have a verizon wireless store there) but you live somewhere else and so you would have a different area code than from where you are from.but about how much more would it cost for the long distance when someone calls you or if you call someone else?

Just a little bit curious.
Thank you.

(:

This is a bit complicated. First of all, it never matters where someone else is for your own bill. It only matters where you are.

The person making the call can be billed for long distance, but this is complicated too. Pretty much all cell phones come with free long distance in the US, so there isn't a problem there. Calling another country would get very expensive though. Canada is $0.69 a minute with Verizon.

If a person calls from a land line, it depends on their long distance carrier. Some people have unlimited long distance plans, and others pay by the minute. Some people only use phone cards for long distance calls. You would have to discuss this with the people you expect to be calling you from landlines.

It'd be better to get a phone from your own local calling area though. If there is no store around, just sign up online. The best place to get a new cell phone if you don't already have one is Amazon.com.

If you are traveling to another state and your phone has a different area code and someone calls you, then there are no charges to you what so ever. Verizon plans has long distance and roaming included with their plans. You can also may a call from another state and not be charged long distance. The only thing that would be deducted are your total minutes for the month when you make a call or receive a call from a non verizon customer.

Current plans with Verizon Wireless include long distance. There are no long distance charges when calling another number within the US

You asked this in the Land Phones category so I'm not sure if you are calling from a cell phone or a landline phone (Verizon is the dominant landline provider in much of New Jersey). If you are calling from a landline phone it depends on the long distance plan you have - check with them.
