Is the supreme court going to hear individual cases of detainees at Gitmo??? Did I miss something?
I hate to disagree with my learned colleague above, Elana, but courts are barred from hearing witnessess everyday. The people being held in Gitmo are not witnessess nor are they criminals. They are military detainees not offerred the same protections under our law. If more people understood this, we wouldn't have to have this discussion.

No, it isn't illegal, in fact an inmate has twice the rights you or I do plus free lawyers. Sworn to protect, that line is a pitiful
joke anymore!! I had to watch my younger brother's killer smile for the cameras, for killing a 23 year old this fat 47 year old was only sentenced to 20 yrs ! His wife also pleaded guilty and within 10 minutes she was released. The supreme court is nothing but a joke looking for a place to happen!!!!!

Isn't it only citizens that can take cases to the high court? the answer is no. the issue is what protections (we are Americans) do people have that they will be given a fair trial. most of the inmates at Gitmo were captured by Iraqi's and Afghani's, and turned over to the US, in exchange for a cash reward. the result is that you had people just grabbing anybody and turning them over for cash. some of these people are innocent. As I said, we are Americans, so we give fair justice to all.

No, and furthermore it is illegal to bar the court from
hearing witnesses.
Information is the mainstay of a democracy, not attemping
to spread ignorance.
