You don't have to have a credit card. You may need to be able to pay up front (cash) for purchases though.

If you are new customer and want services from Verizon Wireless then you will need to be 18 years or older plus Verizon Wireless will do a credit check on you before any activation. If your credit score is good and approved then you will be able to purchase a new phone and a cell phone plan. You can then pay the phone by cash, or credit card.

However if you credit score is low then you will need to put down a deposit plus the cost of the new phone purchase. Then within a couple of weeks you will receive your first bill with your monthly fee on your cell phone plan, a $35 activation for the phone and then taxes. In addition you will need to pay a extra month in advance. This is called prorated meaning Verizon calculates the amount from the date you start service to your billing cycle.

Your monthly bill can be paid by check through the mail or credit card or you can visit any Verizon Wireless store and pay your bill from there with cash if you would like.
