Does anyone know what the top speed of a Peugeot 405 diesel is? ive heard 95mph not to pleased with that! anyone know any better?

lol thankyou for the jokes. but im looking at this car for the following reasons: A. its that cool 80's shape. B. its diesel and will do 50mpg. C. i can get one cheap! and D. there really comfortable, but i couldnt bring myself to buy a car that couldnt crack 105, so 110 sounds good. regardless if its legal tell everyone that on the M25! lol!

I have a 1989 Peugeot 405 petrol. I have driven it 130 km/hr = 82 mph. I felt no need to go faster.
But my father in law has 7 Peugeot 405 DIESELS, it's his hobby. Tonight I asked him. He said 160 - 170 km was the top speed, and that is 100 - 106 miles per hour.
He does not have any turbos. And It depends on how straight your rear axle is. The 405 is known for a weak rear axle, especially the estate, if you overload it too often.
Pulling power is impressive. I have pulled 1000 kilos (2200 lbs) at a slow speed for a 30 minute drive, on a trailer with a double axle.
I do not have the electrical problems that I have read about here, on the 406 and 407. No electrical problems on the 405 for me.

Id say 70m to 80 mph ,if you got turbo you can pick up speed quicker but main problem picking up speed..always get disel but turbo,(disel gets about 3.4 more to mile than petrol)Yes peugeot have not got good reputation...

Drive it and redline the tach and then look at the speedometer.
95mph isnt legal unless you are on the Autobahn, why do you need to go this fast anyway?

Sounds like a servo problem Either the vac pump is not working or failing that the servo has stopped operating Check the vac pump first Common problem
