Okay, say the mom has brown eyes (medium/light) and the father has blue eyes (light)... at 4 months the baby still has a darker blue eye color... what are the chances that they will stay blue?? And since mom has the recessive gene for blue eyes would it take the baby's eyes longer to turn to brown than most??? Thanks for all answers...

yeah there is a chance the eyes will still change. Babies eyes usually change for about a year while they are still fully developing.
It is very likely that the eyes will stay blue since the father has blue eyes and the mother is recessive for blue eyes.
But it is possible for them to still change because they are still fully developing and will continue to change...and brown is the dominant color.

Everything depends on genes. I myself was born with blue eyes (natch). My mom has brown and my dad had blue. Since I was one year old, I had one of each! Around 15, my blue eye changed to a light brown and the brown one got darker. It is not rare, but common. I married a man with green eyes and I have two blue eyed boys. So, check with family members on all 4 sides of the families. You just never know. P.S. Growing up, everyone thought I had the coolest eyes. I was the only one I knew growing up, but found out that there were a few famous people with the same eyes!

My parents and 4 younger brothers are all blue-eyed and have been for life. I had blue eyes until about age 7. They've been green ever since.

My son had slate grey eyes, almost black from birth. I had no idea where he got those!!! They got lighter and lighter and at about 3 months were bright blue and have been ever since. He's 4 now.

My daughter had very dark blue eyes that have lightened a lot her whole 2 years of life. They're now a bright blue.

This question caught my eye, because I was just talking to a woman the other day who's eyes are changing now. She's had green eyes her whole life and now they're turning blue. So I believe eyes can change colors throughout your life, though it's more common in childhood. And they almost always change in infancy, particularly in caucasian/white children.

Hope that helps. :o)

More often then not babies are born with blue eyes that later change to a different color. It can be days, weeks, months or even years later. Often times people in adulthood discover their eyes changing colors.

My pedi told me that whatever color their eyes are at their 6 month birthday is what color they will be permanently.

I have light brown eyes and my husband has light blue eyes and our daughter has green eyes but they were blue for a long time.

Chances are, if they stayed blue this long, they will probably stay blue.
