I was in a car accident in Texas (el paso). I went to the hospital and got my bill a few months later. I was under the understanding that the insurance company have to pay my bill by law and the insurance claim's guy told me that they do have to pay by law. He then told me I would have to settle first or go to court over it. Is this true?? theres no way i can get my bills paid without signing anything? Im asking because I'm worried that if I settle and then need medical attention for somthing related to the accedent I will be stuck with the bill. I dont want to wait to long Im thinking the longer I wait the harder it will be to get a lawyer to take the case. I tryed to figure this out myslelf but i didnt know were to start so plz leave a link to were you got your info if its on the web, thnx for helpin.

The problem seems that they insurance company wants you to pay and then they will pay you. They want to know the final total before paying. If there is a court judgment then the entire case is in doubt, especially if a jury is involved.

This is a case where you are going to need a lawyer just to work out the problems with getting the settlement.

insurance company is playing games with you. They say they cannot pay until you sign a paper that everything is okay. This is not correct. they can make partial payments for medical expenses that have been incurred, for damage to the vehicle, and for other items, without you signing anything. All the major insurance companies pay off right away. You are right in not wanting to sign anything until you know you are going to be okay. I hate lawyers, 90 percent are just greedy crooks, but it sounds like you have git a real bunch of a**holes for an insurance company, so you will have to get a greedy shyster lawyer. They work on a contingency basis, so expect to pay them 33-40 percent of whatever that get for you. On the bright side, if you tell the insurance people that you are going to get a lawyer, they sometimes start behaving a little bit better. and if you do have to get a lawyer, they will have you sue the insurance company for much more that you really deserve, so that there will be enough after the bills to pay their fee.
