Sometimes if spell check doesn't recognize the word, it counts the spelling as being correct. & also, what does how a person spells have to do with answering a question?

Like for example, A person might ask, "Coud I be pregnat?" instead of "Could I be pregnant?" & then somebody would answer, "Well if you don't know how to spell then you don't need to be having sex!"

As long as you get the point across it's fine with me. This is not an English class and just because someone can speak or spell better then another does not make them a better person.

Possibly, because as people, we derive some bit of glee by making fun of others in an anonymous yet public sort of way. I can understand not jumping all over someone for asking if she might be "pregnat." But for someone who is asking what college he should apply to because "their" really interested in what "your" thinking and maybe he might want to go into journalism or something, then that's grounds for a beat-down.

Because askers here are expecting other people to take the time to answer their questions. It's impolite not to return the favor by taking the time to make sure your part of the equation is correct. It's annoying!

(This is from someone who doesn't usually ding people for typos, by the way, unless they're particularly funny.)

Proper spelling is important in society, whether some want to believe it or not.
It would be like having a conversation & mispronouncing every other word. That is distracting & takes away from the importance of the conversation, or in this case, the question.

When someone does not care enough to spell it correctly or speak clearly, it almost feels like they don't really care about what they are asking or saying.
So, why should I or you?

I know!!! People always do that to me!!! Especially when I'm asking a question that involves religion or politics, where stupid people try to act all smart. I think people do that because they want to act smart and/or they have nothing better to do than make others look worthless or whatever. cmon! Even geniuses make typos.

people can be mean. I for one don't put others down if they can't spell just because I am a good speller. It's not fair to put someone else down who's not a good speller. Your right it has nothing to do with people answering questions.

Because they are sooooo perfect. Actually it is because they think that if they are putting down another person then they get a feeling of superiority. It helps them feel better about themselves for a while.

Because it usually is an indicator of overall intelligence. I have low tolerance for the stupid and I suspect many here share the sentiment. I mean, how hard is it to click the friggin "check spelling?"

i don't really mind little errors like that because you can understand what they were trying to say/type. but when they completely forget the English language and leave out entire words and sentences then it gets harder to try and answer the questions. wat u thnk tht? - stuff like that is what's annoying you have an entire keyboard not a little keypad on the face of a phone so use it.
