You're right. Anti cellulite cream is one that irks me. You know the Dove adverts though? The're pretty good - they employ normal women, women who are a little bit curvy, have areas that are, to be honest, a little bit fat, but they look great. After all, Dove is a moisturiser so why waste their time employing models to advertise something that normal women can advertise? Although, I have heard women kicking off about how they don't want to see 'disgusting women like that' (their words not mine) and if they wanted to see that they'd look in the mirror. They say that they want to see someone they can aspire to look like...which I think is terribly naive. Let's face it, if you've got big boobs and hips, you're never ever ever going to be a size 6, simply because nature has decided you are this shape. You can't fight your bone structure and it irritates me when people say 'I want to look like that' when it's physically impossible to look like that, but they're going to try every uplifting anti cellulite anti wrinkle anti spot anti fat cream going. It's like being on a treadmill - constantly running but never ever getting anywhere.

*edit - sorry to cause problems, but Tina what are you on about? Who complains about seeing someone with dark skin? Only a minority of narrow minded people - but there is also a minority of people who have bad things to say about white people too, it's a two way street. And, if there is a cream to lighten darker skin, surely that comes under the same category as make up that makes light skin darker? Is bronzer politically incorrect because it makes white people darker? I don't think so!

Um, so if you know you're being duped, just ignore it. If you are confident and know you don't need those wrinkle or anti-cellulite creams, don't worry about it. Most people are stupid...look at what a huge following lame bands have, like Creed or Nickelback. Those same people get older and buy wrinkle cream, because the universe is punishing them for being stupid and gullible.

There's no way any of that is going to change in the near future, since the people running those corporations only care about the money. Just be glad that you're smart enough to know the difference between a quality product and a fraud.

From a young age we are bombarded with idealistic images of women. So by the time we are old enough to consume we have this deep seeded urge to constantly try and better our selves when we don't really need to.

in India they have a fair and lovely cream to make darker people look fair...because some people in society are vain and weak that effects everyone else..
my mother taught me about self respect and how to accept yourself and others and I see people as individuals so when I heard of this I was so against this....this is really dehumanising and racist when considered with the fact the most "beauties" in media are fair skinned including tv news readers ...there are many dark pretty people but people will make complaints about the fact that one is dark rather than see her beauty.....its a good job that in the west there are better role models like imam and naiomi campbell..

Don't get angry, just don't buy those ridiculous advertised products.

If you want to look good, you can exercise regularly, eat good food, and get enough sleep. You don't need the advertised junk! It's worthless.
