should politicians surrender one elected post if they run for another?

example should a senator give up her or his seat if they are running for the office of the Presidency ?

They always used to. Gore and Kerry, etc proved you can't do both at the same time competently or honestly.

yes they should . . . at least in the case of Hellery clinton

she should surrender her senators seat since she is running for president . . .

then we will be rid of her for good once she looses the nomination
