1800???
Is this a typo?
Thier was no baseball in the 1800's, although thier was a similar game like it played in Egland.
The best player in the 1900's??? Statistics say Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb, and Ted Williams. I go with Babe Ruth because he blasted more homers then Ty Cobb and Ted Williams, holds the carrer record for Slugging Percentage, and OPS, and is 3rd in homers all time.
He is also very clutch, he is the olny player to hits 3 homers twice in a World Series game.
He probably wpuld still be a Hall Of Famer is he contuined to be a pitcher because before he became a hitter he was a outstanding pitcher for the Boston Red Sox.
In 1916 he went 23-13 with a 1.75 E.R.A. and 9 shutouts, the shoutout mark is still tied for most shut outs for a left handed pitcher in a season.
He used to hold the record for most consecutive innings pitched without allowing a Earned Run, (29 two and a third.)
Another Yankee would eventualy break the mark (Whitey Ford) who would pitch 33 two and a third scoreless innings in the 1961 World Series.
In 2007 the best player is Alex Rodriguez. He is probably going to break Hank Aarons all time home run record. A-Rod has over 500 Home Runs and he's olny 31! At the rate he's hitting, by the time he's done he should finish with about 800 homeruns (45 more the Aaron.)

Best Player 1800:
1800 was before baseball was played like today. It was modernized by a Civil War general.
Best Player 2007:
Ken Griffey Jr.
All things considered, Griffey is the greatest player of all time. Even injured.
