I got them a week ago and noticed gravid spots a day later. I didn't look to see if the spots were there when I got them, but they've been getting bigger and bigger. I plan to use the greenery method for protecting the babies rather than a livebearer trap because I just don't know.

I myself am a guppy breeder. It's rather hard to tell if a guppy is pregnant if you havn't seen one before, but one tell tale sign for me is that when she's about to give birth she will try to look for a place to hide, she will usually have her head up and her tail will be bending in a way that it's like she trying to touch her tail to her head. Her belly will look extremely bloated and right by her anal fin there may be a little spot of pink this means shes really close to dropping the fry. But have plenty of places for the fry to hide or she will eat them if shes hungry, this is about 24-28 hours after birth.

The males in our tank seemed to know when the females were going to deliver as they followed her around the tank. We used the greenery and it was very successful. A few times we had males that would very actively seek out the babies in the grass so we removed them to their own little tank for a couple of weeks. My kids always loved to watch the births. Good luck with your newbies!

It's kind of hard to tell when exactly they are going to give birth, but as the it gets darker on it's underside near anal fin, it is getting closer. The greenery method is how I do it, but if I see tiny fry, I catch them in the breeder box until they get big enough to survive on their own. (breeder box is a plastic floating box that you just put in your tank) It doesn't take up too much room and cost about $5.00 at Petsmart.

I've heard that they start to look more square, but I can never tell when mine are going to either. : (
