I'm restricting my question to the USA since I am most familiar with the American system of rule. By "lie," I mean that act which involves making a statement that is either intended to deceive or that is not in accord with what one internally cognizes.

I think it's called "national security".

It's always fun to watch a government make allegations against others while engaging in such behaviour.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!
There are times when the government should take a role in helping the general population understand and be prepared for what ever the situation may be. This whole "Its easier to get forgiveness then it is to get permission" is such an injustice to the people. At this point in time its obvious that most Americans would not know what the truth was if it hit them in side of the head. Look at the state of the USA internally, and look at the state of the USA externally. Just the efforts alone are mind boggling. But also the amount of money that is spent out side of this country for a war!!! How about some internal support, health care standard of living, etc. etc. Ya this topic yanks my goat. Thanks for letting me vent. Those of you with your eyes open know what I am saying.

I can understand why the government withholds some information from the public. Some information we just don't need to know about. Some people believe that is what they are doing with 'aliens'.

I also understand why people could think otherwise.
