Loved that show and hated Lawerence Welk.

I came from a family of singing uncles. They had a barbershop quartet, and yes, we all sang along with Mitch. It was a great treat. Grandma would get on the piano, and Dad played the french horn. The youngest brother played the trumpet.
We had his records, and all the cousins memorized all the words of all the songs. Every week end, all the family and all our neighbors were in our yard for the singing and picnic.
My Dad built a big "rumpus" room on the back of our house, so we could do it all long Colorado winter weekends as well.

No, nor Lawrence Welk or Guy Lombardo either. I did like Mantovani, Andre Previn, Laurindo Almeida, and Stan Kenton.

I was in my teens when he was popular, never could understand people's fascination with his stuff...but then, I never understood the 101 Strings popularity and such...it always seemed to me that this stuff was a rehash of the best stuff of its time, and the originals were good..so why tamper with what worked? I still feel the same today. Remakes of so many songs fall flat on their face.

I sang with Dot and stole her dot to dot coloring book. we were senior sisters until recently. She was sick and tired of the mess she was in and went home so our Mom could clean her up. Simple wasn't it? I miss her but she needed to go first. She was sooo dirty and such a naughty lilgrl. She used to challenge me so I could lrn to win. I win!!
